Next Steps

Ready to begin your journey at Oregon Law? Here are the next steps.

✔   Confirm Your Enrollment Decision and Accept Your Offer of Admission

To reserve your seat in the Oregon Law Class of 2027, you must submit a nonrefundable $600 seat deposit by the deadline stated in your offer of admission. $500 of this deposit will be applied to your student account and credited toward your tuition and fee charges. The remaining $100 is the Admissions Acceptance Fee.

   Visit Campus

Our Admitted Student Preview Day will take place on March 8th, 2024. The event will kick off with a reception on the evening of March 7th, followed by a full day of unique and informative programming on March 8th. Registration is required.

If you are unable to join us for Preview Day, you can also arrange an individual Zoom meeting with a current student or with someone in the Office of Admissions.

   Arrange for Financial Aid

To apply for financial aid, such as federal and/or private loans, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Be sure to designate the University of Oregon (school code #003223) as a recipient. Please submit your FAFSA by March 1, 2024. The Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships processes financial aid awards for all students. When you receive your financial aid award notification, you will need to follow the directions to formally accept your financial aid. If you do not formally accept your financial aid, it will not be disbursed.

✔   Secure Housing

Most law students choose to live off-campus in apartments or shared houses. On-campus housing is available, but very limited. If you are looking for a roommate, we encourage you to join the Class of 2027 Facebook group to connect with other incoming students. Visit the housing page for more information.

   Submit Proof of Immunizations

For you health and the health of the entire campus community, the University of Oregon has immunization requirements for all incoming students. Students are encouraged to satisfy these requirements before arriving on campus. For more information, visit the University Health Center’s website.

   Consider Health Insurance

Domestic students are not required to have health insurance, but have the option to purchase coverage through the UO Student Health Benefits Plan. The UO requires all international students and their eligible dependents to purchase the UO insurance, or obtain a waiver by having other insurance that meets the UO insurance requirements.

   Claim your DuckID

Your DuckID is your primary account for technology access on campus. You will use your DuckID login for email, Canvas, wireless internet access, and many other services.  Incoming 1L students will be able to claim their DuckID in mid-June.

   Submit Final Transcripts

If you have not yet sent a final copy of your final transcript to the Law School Admission Council (LSAC), please do so as soon as possible. A final transcript confirms the type of bachelor’s degree you were awarded and the conferral date. The final transcript is required as part of the American Bar Association (ABA) law student certification process. Please ensure that your transcript is received by LSAC no later than July 1, 2024.

   Attend Orientation

Mandatory Orientation for 1L students will take place in August. This program is a comprehensive introduction to the School of Law, and you will learn about all the components of the law school experience that will be critical to your success. The first day of class is Monday, August 26, 2024.
