Getting Around
With a variety of bicycle, pedestrian, and public transportation options, Eugene is a thriving small city that is easy to get around.
On Foot
The University of Oregon is relatively compact, and a trip across campus is generally less than 15 minutes on foot. While all law classes take place within the Knight Law Center, campus resources such as the the Erb Memorial Union (EMU), the UO Rec Center, and the Student Health Center are within easy walking distance.
By Bike
The relatively flat topography within the city of Eugene and the Willamette Valley’s mild climate make biking a popular option for UO Students. Eugene boasts nearly 50 miles of shared-use paths, over 150 miles of dedicated bike lanes, and numerous bicycle/pedestrian bridges spanning the Willamette River and major roads and highways.
On campus, the UO Bike Program offers students do-it-yourself maintenance space, classes, and campus biking information.
Bicycle parking and repair stations are available throughout campus, including the Knight Law Center. The Transportation Services office also offers secure bicycle storage options at various locations on campus.
The PeaceHealth Rides bikeshare program is also available, offering UO students free and discounted options. A bikeshare station is located outside the front entrance of the Knight Law Center.
By Car
A parking permit is required to park in all campus lots Monday-Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Permit parking at the University of Oregon is sold by zone. There are three main price points (A, B, & C) corresponding to proximity to the campus core. The B-East zone is the closest to the law school.
Permits are available for the academic term, 30-day, or on a daily basis. Permits are available for both cars and motorcycles, and more information is available through the Transportation Services office.
Public Transportation
University of Oregon students have access to a free bus pass for the Lane Transit District (LTD). In addition to traditional bus lines, LTD offers the Emerald Express (EmX), a bus rapid transit service that operates with 10-15 minute frequency during the week. The EmX Green Line’s Agate State is located only two blocks from the Knight Law Center. More information is available through the Transportation Services office.
